Mike picked up the guitar aged 13, after being captivated by the sounds of Hendrix and Slash he began taking lessons with a local teacher.
These formative lessons proved life changing, providing a solid foundation of skill and most importantly exposure to a lot of new influences namely: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Extreme and Metallica. From there, further influential musical discoveries were made including: Dream Theater, Al Di Meola and Frank Zappa,
After leaving school Mike sought out the expertise of some of the UKʼs top guitarists and following a years study at the London Music School (LMS), began to teach and gig on a professional basis. A further three years study at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in London, gave Mike a BMus (Hons) degree and an LRSL teaching licentiate.
Mike's playing is rooted in the Progressive Rock camp but continues to grow and develop as he explores and incorporates a wide variety of styles from Country to Jazz, Blues and Fusion.
In 2014 Mike entered the International Guitar Idol 4 competition, playing the main stage at London Olympia as one of the 8 finalists.
Mike is available for studio and live session work. Lessons are available online or at his studio in Kent, which is within easy reach of London.
